Justin Shirk adds U.S. soph class record to his resume with 219-04 on July 7th

In two years, javelin specialist Justin Shirk of Central Dauphin HS has set two U.S. Class Records. On Saturday July 7 in the Long & Strong Throwers Classic at Cocalico High School in Lawn (Lebanon County), Shirk threw the jav 219-04, a U.S. Sophomore Class Record and PR by 4' 3", which he set at the recent USATF Junior Outdoor Champs. Shirk's throw betters the 218-01 mark set by Casey Kauffman of West Linn, Oregon in 2001. Shirk holds the U.S. freshman record at 207-05, thrown in a dual meet in 2006 at his home throws area. The mark has been verified by Track & News Boys HS Editor Jack Shepard as the U.S. Sophomore Class Record.
