Boys' State Field Preview: Geist throws for history; Lauray leads HJ; Big jav throws expected

AA Boys' Long Jump

Schuylkill Valley's Brendan Sparr is in the midst of a stellar sophomore season. He was fourth a year ago at states, but he's returned a better jumper in 2016. Sparr won the District 3 title with a PA#1 of 23-11.5 and is the favorite to win it this year.

He'll have another 23 foot jumper to deal with, though. Delaware Valley Charter's Jahmair Craig. Craig, a senior, won the District 12 title and he'll be looking to improve on an 11th place finish from last year.

Speaking of big PRs at districts, Hanover's Brandon Chafin jumped 22-9.75 to win the District 2 title. That was over a foot better than his previous best and Chafin has become a threat for the win.

In addition to his sprinting prowess,

North Schuylkill's Bobby Wagner, Clariton's Lamont Wade, and Burgettstown's Jacob Shipley will be others who will look to make this an interesting event.
