AA Boys | Central Cambria should see challenge from Somerset

D6-AA Boys Team Preseason Rankings

Central Cambria loses two from their 2015 D6-AA championship team that went on to place 13th at states. Most notably gone is Bryce Descavish, who was second in D6 and sixth in the state for AA. But the Red Devils have five strong returners, led by Mike Wawlro and Max Murin. Tyler Wilson, Ohm Vyas and Alex Jeffers will look to make up the team that grabs the lone state qualifying spot.

Somerset, which was third in 2015 in the district, should pose a threat to Central Cambria's title defense. They return six of seven from last year's team, led by the district's top returners in Dominic Mazzariello. Cejay Walker was very impressive as a freshman last year and those two will provide some low sticks to rival Central Cambria.

Forest Hills and Bellefonte Area are a few teams on the outside looking in for now. They'll both need to add depth. Forest Hills does have sophomore Mitchell Chunta, who should make an impact up near the front of the pack.

Bedford lost its top two from 2015, which included district champ and state medalist William Kachman, but they will look to retool with its 3-7 runners all returning from last year's squad.

Ultimately, it looks like the battle here is between Central Cambria and Somerset for a trip to Hershey in November.
