PTXC WEEKEND RECAP: Briarwood, George School, Ben Bloser make for a big Saturday

Altoona Mt. Lion Invitational (Altoona, PA)

In arguably the best race of the weekend, Central Mountain's Alyssa Laughner took the win by just .23 over Saint Joseph's Catholic's Sera Mazza. They both ran 19:47. Laughner was second to Mazza at Lock Haven two weeks ago, but the much-improved junior reversed her fortune this time around. It's a great start to her season, which also included a third place finish at Penn State last weekend. Saint Marys Area's Michelle Bauer was third in 19:57.

Mazza's SJCA team did take the team win, though. After taking second to PA#2 Central Cambria in consecutive weeks, they picked up a 20 point win over Oakland Catholic, which was without some top runners this weekend.

Dominic Mazzariello kept up his great junior campaign and pulled out his second win of the season, running 16:56 at Altoona. Her Somerset Area teammate Cejay Walker took second in 17:04. Altoona, led by Greg Williams and Brady McCarthy paced the host team to the team win, scoring 89 total points.
