Hoey, Devlin win; Rustin boys surprise; Unionvile girls get back on track: Ches-Monts Recap

Boys' Recap

Josh Hoey won the Ches-Mont individual crown for a second straight year on short rest. Only this time it came in a green singlet instead of blue. The Bishop Shanahan transfer raced at the Manhattan Invitational just two days ago, but he still managed to pull out a close win in a kick over West Chester Rustin's Brandon Hontz. Hoey's winning time was 16:24.

Hoey won the crown last season with Downingtown West and repeats this time around. He said his plan was to hang around the leaders and kick in the end because of some tiredness in his legs and he was able to execute that plan. Watch his interview below:

The surprise of the day came in the team race. With Downingtown West and Henderson resting their top guys (they also ran at Manhattan on Saturday), the team compeititon was wide open. Even with a B squad, West still looked like the favorites, but it was West Chester Rustin that ran a very strong race to capture the crown. Hontz provided the low stick with his runner up finish in 16:26 and Ryan Demis was sixth in 16:51 to lead the upset. The Whippets wound up a still very impressive second. Hontz talked with us afterwards:
