BOYS: The defending champion left no doubt about it.

JP McCaskey's Nathan Henderson seized control early and rolled to his third straight Lancaster-Lebanon League title in a time of 15:57. The conditions made the pursuit of a course record unattainable, but Henderson took care of business to claim the win. He talked about his race afterwards:

The surprise of the day came in the team race. Manheim Central scored 61 points to take the team victory by 30 over second place Cedar Crest and Hempfield (the teams tied on points, but Cedar Crest took second with a better sixth runner). Ian Lauver led the way for Manheim Central, placing fourth. Cole Sunderland was ninth and David Merkey and Galen Fitzkee were 12th and 13th.

Ephrata's Zach Lefever was battling a cold, but still wound up second. He ran a time of 16:28, but will look for a better race next week at Big Spring for the District 3 Championships. He talked about his race and plans for districts afterwards.

GIRLS: Cocalico's Jamie Zamrin won her second straight Lancaster-Lebanon League Championship, but it didn't come easy. Zamrin had company throughout most of Tuesday's race at Ephrata Middle School in some unseasonably hot fall weather.

Zamrin outlasted Elizabethtown's Katie Locker and Manheim Township's Kira Jenkins for the win in a time of 19:07. We talked with Zamrin after the race.

Manheim Township, the #2-ranked team in the state, easily won the team race, putting its top five in the top 20. Jenkins led the way with her third place finish, while Leah Sassaman was tenth and Samantha Side was 13th. They scored 51 points for the win. Ephrata was second with 110 points.

Locker, a freshman, continued her great start to her high school career taking second to Zamrin and hanging with the defending champ for most of the race. Watch an interview with Locker below:
