Altoona Igloo Invitational - Meet Preview

BOYS' PREVIEW

Richland's Ethan Dabbs will kick off his season at the same spot where he threw over 200 feet for the first time in his career. Dabbs is the heavy favorite in the javelin at Altoona. The junior is the top AA returner this season and should be worth keeping an eye on as he begins his year.

Saint Marys Area's Tom Bojalad will also be starting off his season. Bojalad is entered and favored in the discus and shot put. Look for the senior to have a big season in both throws events. In the discus, Clearfield's Matthew Collins will look to challenge him.

In the 800 meters, the Kiski Area duo of Eric Kennedy and Nick Gabrielli will look for some fast early-season times as the top seeds there. Somerset's Dominic Mazzariello is entered in both the 1600 and 3200. He's the top seed in both.

Altoona Area's Daiquain Watson, fresh off a solid indoor campaign, will look to carry that momentum into outdoors. He's the top seed in both the long jump and high jump.

GIRLS' PREVIEW

Hollidaysburg's Ali Wyland should have some state medal hopes this spring and it begins on Saturday for her. Ayland is the top seed in both the 100 and 200 meters.

Watch for Greater Latrobe's Anna Ramsey in the 800 meters. Ramsey was a state qualifier in the event this past indoor season and should be a threat in the two-lapper this spring. Richland's Tori Kocsis is the top seed in both the 1600 and 3200 meters.

Coudersport's Adrian Page will be one to watch in the throws. She's the top seed in both the discus and javelin. She's also entered in the shot put, where Kiski Area's Naudia Johnson will open up her outdoor season.
