Knoch Relays - Meet Preview

Jordan Geist kicks off his final season of high school competition on Saturday at his home invite and it could be a big day for the Arizona-bound senior. Geist opened up here last year with a state record and that could be in the cards again this season.

While we know a lot about his shot putting prowess, Geist threw 197 feet in the discus during a mid-week dual meet, so look for him to go big there as well this weekend.

In the boys' 1600 meters, Zach Skolnekovich of Quaker Valley returns to action. He was a Foot Locker finalist and Class AA runner-up during XC. He'll be the favorite to take the win in his track season debut.

Canon McMilan's Chyna Beck, a breakthrough performer during the winter, will look to keep her big season rolling into outdoors. She's the top seed in both the 300 hurdles and her specialty, the triple jump.

In the girls' 1600 meters, watch for a good matchup between Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic's Rylee Kopchak, Butler's Maggie Welty, and Avonworth/Northgate's Megan Wisniewski.

In the javelin, watch for Moniteau's Cambrie Campbell, who will look to start her season off in a big way. Butler's Taylor Weaver is the top seed in the pole vault.

Be on the lookout for some fast relays from the Avonworth/Northgate girls, who have a deep squad led by the Robinson sisters.
