Diamond State Relays - Meet Recap

A few PA teams went to the First State on Saturday for the Diamond State Relays.

Penn Wood's Janae Pitt continued to show her strength in the hurdles. Pitt won the 300 meter hurdles in 45.50 and she took second in the 100 meter hurdles in 15.04. Her 100 hurdles time improves upon her winning time at the PA Track Classic from last week and puts her at PA#3.

Cardinal O'Hara's Elizabeth and Eleanor Mancini went 1-2 in the 3200 meters. Elizabeth edged out her sister at the line, running 11:03.06, while Eleanor clocked in at 11:03.34. Those are good enough for PA#2 and PA#3 times respectively.

Penn Wood's Terri Turner ran away with the win in the 400 meters. Turner dominated the field en route to a time of 56.55, a PA#3. O'Hara's Christine Mancini was third in 59.39. Watch Turner's race above.

In the 800 meters, Penn Wood's Kyra Carroll defeated long distance star Lydia Olivere of Padua (DE). Carroll ran a time of 2:21.90 for the win, good enough for a PA#7.

Penn Wood showed its strength in the relays. The PW girls clocked a 1:43.40 to win the 4x200 meter relay, a 4:02.83 to win the 4x400 meter relay, and a 9:54.67 to win the 4x800 meter relay. The PW boys won the 4x200 (1:31.92), 4x400 (3:31.95), and 4x800 (8:15.71).

The Chester boys claimed a number of wins. Their 4x100 ran 44.94 for the win. James Jackson ran a time of 41.17 to win the 300 meter hurdles. Lamaj Curry took first in the 800 meters in 2:02.18, and Braheem Bishop cleared 6-2 in the high jump for the win.
