Olympian Invitational - Meet Preview

The field events will produce a good amount of intrigue on the boys' side. Southern Lehigh's Andrew Rochon is coming off a strong start to his outdoor season, which included a pair of wins at the PA Track Classic. The senior will look to do the same on Friday in Jim Thorpe.

Pocono Mountain West's Isaiah Wiggins will make his invite debut this spring. He was fourth in the triple jump in AAA last year. He'll contest the triple again on Friday and it'll be interesting to see how he fares.

Mount Carmel's Maura Fiamoncini popped a career best in a dual meet this week in the javelin, throwing 155-2 against Bloomsburg. She'll head to Jim Thorpe on Friday and will look to improve upon that. She'll face some strong competition, though. Hazleton Area's Kayla Merkel and Jim Thorpe's Brooke Cope are also in the field.

In the shot put and discus, watch for Berwick's Payden Montana. This will be Montana's outdoor invite debut for the season. The junior is coming off a big winter season.

Pine Grove Area's Maddie Frew is the one to watch in the hurdles. Frew will be a threat to earn some medals in AA this season, and she'll be the top seed in both the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles Friday. She's also the top seed in the triple jump. Her teammate Christina Difalco is the top seed in the 3200 meters. Difalco, the Class A runner-up in XC, is one to keep an eye on out of District 11 AA this season.
