GIRLS' RECAP

Burrell's Nicole Scherer had a big day n the sprints. The senior went 57.42 to win the 400 meters, and then went PA#3 in the 200 meters 24.63 in the 200 meters, the top AA time of the season so far.

In the 800 meters, Greensburg Salem's Malia Anderson outdueled Franklin Regional's Sterling Simek. Anderson went 2:16.30 for the win there. Greensburg Salem's Riley Kwiatkowski ran 11:38.86 to win the 3200 meters. Moira O'Shea from Greensburg Central Catholic took the 1600 meter win in 5:09.13.

Hempfield Area swept the hurdles. Bailey Traczynski won the 100 meter hurdles in 15.01 and Gabby Holmberg ran 45.92 to win the 300 meter hurdles. Holmberg came back to win the triple jump with a leap of 37-4.5. Molly DeBone also took the win in the pole vault, clearing 11-6. In the shot put, Samantha Orie, also from HA, won with a throw of 41-3.5.

Burrell's Lizzie Weimer added another win to her resume, taking the discus win with a throw of 129-4. Kara McDonald of Derry Area took the javelin win with a throw of 135-2.

BOYS' RECAP

The distance events produced some very quick times. Penn Trafford's Nick Wagner showed his strength in the half mile. Wagner won the 800 meters in 1:54.64, which moves him up to PA#8 on the season. Franklin Regional's Mark Provenzo went 4:24.09 to win the 1600 meters, while Kiski Area's Eric Kennedy won the 3200 meters in 9:40.69. Greensburg Salem took the 4x800 meter relay, winning in a time of 7:59.96.

Valley's Darius Johnson put down a big performance in the high jump, clearing a huge PR of 6-6, which moves him all the way up to PA#6. He also went 20-9.5 to win the long jump.

Hempfield Area's Eudel Moreta claimed wins in the 100 (11.12) and the 200 (22.56) in a good day in the sprints. Norwin's Nicholas Coleman won the 400 meters in 49.69, just off his own PA#6.

Hempfield Area's Alex Murray won the shot put with a throw of 53-9.75 and the discus with a throw of 149-2.
