AA Girls' 200m Preview

While Thelma Davies of Girard College had more drama than she would have preferred in the 100 meters at the District 1 Championships, she had no problems in the 200. Davies rolled to the win in the 200 meters, running a time of 24.70 for the win. She'll be the top seed at states, where she is tied for the meet record after her 23.85 as a freshman last year.

The field is deep behind her, though, and while Davies is once again a strong favorite, some talented runners will look to give her a run. Burrell's Nicole Scherer is a senior that is highly motivated. She rolled to the WPIAL title and ran a AA state leading time of 24.63 from earlier this season.

At the District 12 meet, Swenson's Jada Smith won a really close race, edging out Neumann Goretti's standout freshman Mykala Perry and Paul Robeson's Tikki Wise. Those three now head to Ship battled-tested and ready to contend up front.

Annville-Cleona's Reagan Hess, Athens Area's Emily Lunger, and Palisades' Lydia Bottelier will all be looking to be in the mix. But up front Davies will be chasing more history.
