AA Girls' 400m Preview
The reigning AA state champ in the 400 meters--Hunter Robinson of Avonworth/Northgate--moved to AAA this season, but that doesn't mean there there will be a shortage of talent in this race this year. In fact, it could be even faster and competitive this year.
This race will be a battle between a seasoned veteran and a standout prodigy. Burrell's Nicole Scherer is a senior in her final state meet. She's racked up her fair share of state medals, but Saturday she'll look to earn a gold in an event she's never contested at Shippensburg: the 400. Her biggest challenge will come from Neumann Goretti's Mykala Perry. Perry was third in the event at indoor states and she's already quite the name for herself. This race will not be one to miss and it may take a sub-55 time to win it.
After those two, there are plenty of others who could creep into the title conversation with a good race. West Catholci's Dasia Wilson gave a good fight to Perry at District 12 and took second. Springfield-Montco's Sydni Stovall was a convincing winner at the District 1 Championships. She was second last year and the senior can't be counted out in her final state meet.
Palisades' Lydia Bottelier, Eisenhower's TerryLee Talasky, and Millville's Morgan Bower were all impressive in winning at their respective district meets and they'll be looking to mix it up with the favorites.
