AA Girls' 100m Hurdles Preview
Bentworth's Brenna Cavanaugh enters the state meet as the heavy favorite in the high hurdles. She is the only entry, who has run under 15 seconds in the event this season, and the junior has been pretty consistently under the time all season long. Her best came with a 14.51 at Baldwin. She was second to the now-graduated Summer Thorpe of Sewickley last year.
Susquehanna Community's Skyla Wilson was third a year ago. The junior edged out Lakeland's Madison Harding for the District 2 title last week and those two district opponents will be serious factors at states. Harding, meanwhile, was fourth last year.
Riverside's Elsa Antal was fifth at states a year ago, and Saint Basil's Sophia Barnett was sixth. Both will be looking for return trips to the podium this weekend. Milton Area freshman Leah Bergey is a newcomer, but she's wasted no time asserting herself as a contender for a medal.
Pine Grove's Maddie Frew and Lakeview's Kendra Benton just missed the finals last year and they'll be looking to make the leap to the medal stand this time around.
