AA Boys' 1600m Preview
We should expect a great race in the AA 1600 meters, with some top runners clashing. The top seed is the WPIAL champ Tristan Forsythe of Winchester Thurston. The junior clocked a 4:16.78, an outdoor PR for the win. His biggest challenge may come from district opponent Zach Skolnekovich of Quaker Valley. Skolnekovich will be coming off the 3200 meters earlier in the day, but he's proven he can drop a strong double all season long. Look for him to not go away without a fight.
Milton Area's Tyler Leeser will be one to watch as well. Leeser was the District 4 champ in a strong PR of 4:20.24. He's also running the 800 meters, but the junior will be all in for the 1600 meters and he is not one to lose track of. Neither is Mercyhurst Prep's Noah Curtin, one of PA's most clutch performers. He pulled out a PR of 4:21.43 to win the District 10 title and will look to ride that into this weekend. His teammate Jimmy Zimmerman is worth watching for, too.
It's been a heckuva junior season for Wyomissing Area's Joe Cullen. He'll look to close it out with a great 1600 meter race. Cullen ran a 4:19 full mile this season. he won the District 3 title last week and has the potential to win this race on Saturday. Seneca's Phoenix Myers has some good 1600 digs as well. He has a 4:18 1600 PR from indoors and he should be in contention even coming off the 4x8.
South Williamsport's Hunter Crawley, Southern Columbia's Ethan Knoebel, Juniata freshman Garrett Baublitz, and Montrose's Zach Mead make up a long list of medal contenders in this field.
