AAA Boys' 4x800m Preview
The AAA boys' 4x800 meter relay never ceases to produce some incredible excitement on Saturday morning and we're expecting nothing less again this season with a number of teams capable of taking gold.
Central Bucks West comes in as the top seed and the PA#1. They went 7:47.52 in the prelims of the Penn Relays. They've been tested throughout the season and they've answered the call. Winning a state title is no easy task, but this group may be up to it.
The WPIAL showed off its strength in the relay last week. Seneca Valley was strong, dropping a 7:52.07 for the win. Greensburg Salem took a close second in 7:52.92. Franklin Regional, North Allegheny, and Indiana Area will also be tough teams to beat.
We can't forget about the reigning state champions from State College Area. They're seeded last, based on their time from the District 6 meet, but don't let it fool you. They are a talented bunch with a 7:49 season best and they're capable of repeating as champs.
After CB West, District 1 boasts a large group of teams with the ability to take gold, or at least a high finish. Pennridge, North Penn, Abington, Penn Wood and Pennsbury have all posting quick times this season.
Don't sleep on District 3, either. The teams that went 1-2 at the D3 Championship meet, Milton Hershey and Carlisle, decided to drop the event, but there's still some firepower left. Ephrata went 7:56.17, Cumberland Valley went 7:56.41, and Manheim Township went 7:57.44 and they will all be in contention.
