AA Boys' Discus Preview
As dominant as Hickory's Evan Blaire has been with the shot put in Class AA, he also has been in the discus. In a day of PRs at the District 10 meet, the Hickory senior reached out to 198 feet, 9 inches after having a slow to develop year in the platter.
Blaire is the favorite to defend his state crown, hut he could get a challenge from Saint Marys Area's Tom Bojalad. The senior popped a toss of 185-10.5 at the Elk County Meet earlier this month. If Bojalad can duplicate that performance, the thrower who took third in AAA last season could challenge Blaire for the title.After that, Lakeview's Aaron Armstrong, Johnsonburg's Ryan Kilhoffer, Lakeland's Stephen Liuzzo, and Riverside's Lance Fisher will also be on the hunt for the podium. Armstrong is the only other returning AA medalist besides Blaire. He was fifth at states as a junior.
