AA Boys' Long Jump Preview
The AA boys' long jump will be extremely competitive with a number of jumpers in the mix for the title. It'll come down to who jumps their best when it matters most. Last year, it came down to who had the better second best jump and it may be just as close this time around.
Salisbury Township's John Reichenbach is the top seed and the PA-AA#1 after a 23-5.5 to win the District 11 title last week. It may take a similar jump to take the title this year. Two other jumpers come in with leaps over 23 feet. Hopewell's Dantae Ranieri leapt 23-0 to take the WPIAL title. Then one of the biggest surprises of Districts Week came at D4, where Southern Columbia's Julian Fleming put down one of the best-ever jumps for a freshman. Can the ninth grader shine again on the biggest stage?
We also can't forget about the reigning champ in this event: Schuylkill Valley's Brendan Sparr. The junior hasn't hit the jumps that won him the state title, but that doesn't mean he can't come up big at Ship. Look for the defending champ to fight hard to keep his title.
Plenty of others will be in the mix for the win, including Palisades' Matt Siley, Dock Mennonite's Austin Kratz, New Brighton's Anthony Milliner, Saint Joseph's Catholic's Lance Hamilton, Bedford's Cleeford Sylne, and Brookville Area's Bryan Dworek.
