AA Boys' Pole Vault Preview
Phil-Mont Chrsitian's Caleb Johnson has made his name known in a big this year. The sophomore has improved in leaps and bounds. He cleared 15-0 to take third at indoor states and took fifth at the Penn Relays this spring. After clearing 14-6 to win the District 1-AA title, he'll be favored to win at Ship
Returning champion Joe Jardine of Schuylkill Valley will be looking to defend his title. He's matched his winning vault from last year of 14-0, and while, the competition is tough, he is battled-tested and could be up to the challenge.
Western Wayne's Ryan Atcavage will be worth watching for. While in AAA last season, he just missed a medal. He cleared 14-1 to win the District 2 AA title this year and is certainly motivated to get a high finish this season. Tulpehocken's Sam Boyer, Elk County Catholic's Ben Koss, and Ligonier Valley's Joseph Tomosky have all jumped 14-0 this season and should be in the mix for the podium at Ship this weekend.
