AAA Boys' Pole Vault Preview
The two best pole vaulters in the state will go head-to-head one last time this season in AAA. Hatboro-Horsham's Nick Marino will square off with East Pennsboro's Payton Morris for the state title. The two have faced off on numerous occasions, and it will come to a head this weekend.
Marino is the indoor state champion and PA#1. He cleared the state best 16-3 at the Jack Roddick Invitational at Shippensburg to beat Morris. But Morris comes in as a the top seed after clearing 15-3 to win the District 3 title last weekend. Expect these two to push each other to some big heights this weekend.
A number of others should get some good looks at 15 feet over the weekend. Kennett's Xavier Feliciano (15-3 PR), Cumberland Valley's Zach Austen (15-0 PR), and Altoona's Tyler Delozier (15-0 PR) are among the names that could contend for the win with a good day.
Others to watch for include Red Lion's Gregory Potter, State College's Luke Knipe, Eastern York's Brady Gladfelter, Baldwin's Nick Lachut and Dave Johnston. Hempfield Area's Hayden Fox was third last year and should definitely be considered a threat in this event.
