AAA Girls' Long Jump Preview

Just like in AA, there is a fantastic athlete at the top of the charts in AAA. Khyasia Caldwell of Pocono Mountain East is going after her third consecutive state championship title this weekend. She is the heavy favorite to win having smashed her previous personal best. At the District 11 Championships, she jumped 20- 5 inches for the win. This performance ranks her among some of the top long jumpers in the U.S.

Looking to challenge her will be Madison Langley-Walker of Upper Dublin. Langley-Walker competed for Cheltenham last year where she placed third overall at states. Langley-Walker has jumped 19-5 this season.

WPIAL champion Jayla Ellis of Oakland Catholic and District 3 champion, Karina Long of Lower Dauphin will also be hitting the sand with over 19-foot jumps. Grace Mittl of Liberty is a few inches away from popping a 19 foot jump and will also be one to watch in the finals. Out of District 7, look for North Hills' Amberly Valeriano to be in medal contention.

Christina Warren of Perkiomen Valley did not have her best performance at districts last weekend, but will still be one to watch at states because a month ago she did land an 18-10.25 jump.
