Team Breakdown: PIAA District 12 Girls

D12-AAA Girls - Team Breakdown

The defending Class AAA state champions from Cardinal O'Hara face an uphill battle if they want to keep their first-ever state crown in-house. But the O'Hara girls are no strangers to nice surprises and they'll look to put together the pieces for another run at states. They lose top girl and three-time D12 XC champ Olivia Arizin and usual fifth runner Sara Hayes. Depth will be the issue, so it's a wait-and-see game with O'Hara to see who can step up

The Lions will still be heavily favored to take another District 12 crown this fall, along with the lone state qualifying spot. O'Hara will be going for its sixth straight district title this year. They'll be relying on the sisters Elizabeth Mancini, Eleanor Mancini, and Christine Mancini this year.

Archbishop Wood loses three of its top seven, including Jessica Nangle, who was second to Arizin last year. Shannon Kelly and Casey Ems will look to be the new leaders of this squad. Wood will need to find some more pieces to end O'Hara's streak and get to states.

Central, Archbishop Carroll, St. Hubert's, and Little Flower are teams on the fringe that will look to threaten for the top spot with some improvements.
