Team Breakdown: PIAA District 12 Girls

D12-AA Girls - Team Breakdown

Masterman's stranglehold on Class A in District 12 ended last season when the squad moved to Class AA, but the Masterman girls still won yet another district in 2016. Led by the Mancoridis twins---Viki and Marina---it loses two from its top seven last year. Expect Masterman to be competitive again this fall as it looks to win its sixth straight district crown.

Lansdale Catholic were second last year and earned that other state qualifying berth. It loses a four-time D12-AA champion in Kayla Connelly, though, so the key for them will be adding some numbers and depth to contend for another trip to Hershey. Rising junior Sara Murphy will be leading LC now.

Msgr. Bonner and Abp. Prendie were just five points off Landale Catholic last fall and certainly hungry for one of those state spots. This year, they should have Samantha Gliwa (third in 2015), who didn't run after PCLs last fall. Gliwa, along with strong five varsity returners, expect to contend for the top two.

Other teams will look for depth for a full scoring five. But up front between the three top squads, the battle for Hershey will definitely be heated and close.
