Freshman Trapani Flies At LHU; Fast Times All Around: Week 1 Weekend Recap

Northampton Invitational - Recap

She didn't get a chance to race last year, but Oley Valley's Rebecca Snyder made the most of an opportunity to start her season off at Bicentennial Park. Snyder, PA#19, took the girls' varsity race out hard to start the day. Marian Catholic's Tina Capparell kept up with her through about the midway point, but Snyder made a move and took the victory in 18:05. It was her first invitational win of her career. Capparell, a reigning state medalist in 1A, still came away with a strong race, placing second in 18:20.

Council Rock South pulled together a very strong effort to take the team win over Easton Area and Central Bucks East. South's Marisa Kilgariff ran 19:27 and closed very well to take third. CB East was led by Cameron Billingsley (fourth place in 19:29) and Skylar Danley (fifth in 19:32) was Easton's top runner.

In the boys' race, we saw a reversal of 2016 up front. Last year, Penncrest's Avery Lederer took second to Central Bucks East's David Endres, but on Saturday it was Lederer who took the win over second place Endres.

Lederer and Endres battled hard through two miles, but Lederer was able to make a move in the final mile and open up a gap on Endres to power home to the win in 15:43. Endres clocked in at 15:53 for second. Easton's Joseph Ozgar was third in 15:59, a strong start to his season, while Southern Lehigh's Colin Cramer was fourth in 16:05 and Quakertown's Hudson Delisle was fifth in 16:08.

In the team race, CB East took home the top prize, scoring 59 points, while Penncrest was second with 73 points.
