Starliper Heats Up At Big Spring

Boys' A & AA Race - Recap

The day's second race belonged to Upper Dauphin's Brenden Miller, who sat back for about a mile before surging to the front and winning comfortably in 16:44. The defending District 3-A champion said he was happy with his time in his first race on a flat course this season; the senior who is his program's only runner has trained and raced almost exclusively on the mountainsides north of Harrisburg.

Lancaster Mennonite posted an impressive 2-3-4 punch in the race behind Miller through Logan Horst (16:57), Abenezear Abebe (17:07) and Nathan Yoder (17:07) but that wasn't enough to win the team title; Milton Hershey's 53-second spread netted the Spartans 87 points and a surprisingly comfortable victory. Luis Guyton-Acevedo (17:31) and Rafael Mendez (17:35) were the Spartans' top two finishers.

In the A competition, York Catholic made it two team trophies on the day by outlasting St. Joseph's Catholic 52-58.
