Boardman Spartan Invitational - Meet Recap
A few strong PA teams met up with Ohio's best at the Boardman Spartan Invitational across state lines on Saturday.
In the boys' race, Butler's Noah Beveridge took out the race very aggressively, opening up a solid lead on the field. He had a nine second lead at the midway point. But the senior and PA#2 fell victim to the heat and his hard early pace on Saturday, and was forced to drop out about a half mile before the finish line.
North Allegheny's Daniel McGoey was the top PA finisher across, placing fifth in the big field. McGoey, a sophomore, ran 16:10. Taylor Allderdice's Ethan Hermann was tenth in 16:20 and his teammate Tavonne Davis was 17th in 16:44. Leading way for Butler was Brett Brady, who placed 15th in 16:43.
North Allegheny was the top PA team in the field, taking seventh with 344 points. Butler, without Beveridge was eight with 356 points. Taylor Allderdice was 14th with 485 points.
In the girls' race, Clara Savchik ran a strong race to take third against a pair of talented Ohio runners. Solon's Olivia Howell went out conservatively and ran down Savchik along with Brunswick (OH)'s Felicia Pasadyn. Howell took the win in 18:06, while Pasadyn was third and Savchik placed third in 18:26.
North Allegheny's Hannah Lindgren was 14th in 19:42, while Butler's Maggie Welty was right behind her, placing 15th in 19:45. NA ended up sixth in the team scoring, while Butler was 16th.
