Girls' 60-Meter Hurdles Preview
The top top returners from last year's state meet in the hurdles, will get a chance to go head-to-head for the third straight time, but this one comes on the biggest stage of them all at Penn State.
PA#1 Christina Warren of Perkiomen Valley leads the field in to Sunday, but Upper Dublin's Madison Langley-Walker (PA#2) will also be on the hunt for a win in what should be one of the state meet's best showdowns. Warren had the advantage over Langley-Walker at the PTFCA Carnival, as well as the DVGTCA Meet of Champs last week, but Langley-Walker is creeping closer. At MOCs, Warren won in 8.62, while Langley-Walker clocked a 8.66. They were practically stride-for-stride the whole way, so this won't be a race to miss. Langley-Walker ran 8.62 to take third in the state last season, while Warren was fourth in 8.70.
Bentworth's Brenna Cavanaugh has steadily improved in the hurdles all season and will aim for another drop in time on Sunday. She ran a PA#3 8.83 to win the TSTCA title this past weekend. She just missed the finals last season and will have plenty of motivation this season to get back and make a big splash.
Others back from the final at states last winter are Conestoga Valley's Jane Livingston (sixth in 2017) and Oakland Catholic's Jayla Ellis (eighth in 2017). Livingston has been impressive all season long and will enter states at PA#4 with a season best of 8.91 and was third in that stacked Carnival final. Ellis enters at PA#5 after a second place finish to Cavanaugh at TSTCAs.
Saint Basil's freshman Tia Taylor and Exeter's Symone Foster are also among the big names in this talented field.
