Some classification changes to D12-AA will have its effect on the individual race this fall. Saabir Ali of Overbrook is the top returning based on districts finish last year. He was second to Bonner's Anthony Harper. But he'll face some challengers from some 2A newcomers.
Aidan Doherty of Archbishop Carroll comes to 2A after his team was in 3A last year. Doherty took 12th in D12-AAA last year and qualified individually for states. He'll look to take the win this season. Cardinal O'Hara also comes to 2A this year after spending years in 3A. Thomas Haas (14th in AAA in '17) and Josh Hayes (16th in AAA in '17) will be among the individual contenders.
Msgr. Bonner & Abp. Prendergast's Brian McGarrity was third in D12-AA last year as a freshman. Look for him, along with fellow rising sophomore at Bonner, Billy DiRita, to drop some time this season. Jeremy Capella of Conwell-Egan, Engineering & Science's Meless Badume, and Swenson's Adric Macharia are also high district finishers back this season looking for more.
