Individuals Breakdown: District 7 Girls

D7-AAA Girls- Individuals Breakdown

One of the best individual performances of the season came at the WPIAL Championships last fall when Oakland Catholic's Hannah Schupansky dropped a 17:58 on a new and challenging Cooper's Lake course to win the district title and upset pre-race favorites Savannah Shaw and Clara Savchik.

It was a huge personal best and 39 seconds faster than Schupansky ran at the Carlisle Invitational earlier in the season on a decidedly much faster course. When she's on top of her game, there are few runners outside of Marlee Starliper in the state of Pennsylvania that can compete with Schupansky.

She'll look to repeat that effort, and if she does, she will contend for a another WPIAL crown and even a AAA state title this season. But she'll face plenty of challengers in a deep D7-AAA with no shortage of team score implications in the line.

North Allegheny's Hannah Lindgren was fifth at districts last year and 13th at states. Now a junior, watch out for Lindgren to have a big year now that the team's previous leader and two-time state runner-up Savchik has graduated. Her teammate Caroline Daggett was 13th at districts and 55th at states.

Fox Chapel Area is loaded with strong returners from last year's state championship team. Sarena Seeger was 11th at states to lead her team to the title. Annika Urban led the team at WPIALs, where she placed sixth, two spots ahead of Seeger. Brooke Krally and Grace Sisson should also compete for high finishes for Fox Chapel this season.

Oakland Catholic also has a lot of talent after Schupanksy. Kathryn Aldrich, Teresa Davison, Katelyn Ellery, and Tesslyn Helms are all back from the top 15 in D7-AAA from last season. Davison was 29th at states last fall.

Claire Hoffman of Upper Saint Clair took 11th at districts last season as a freshman. At states, she dropped a fast 19:19 to take 21st and earn a state medal and highest placed AAA freshman in the state. Look for her to continue that momentum into her sophomore season.

Seneca Valley's Lizzy White, Mount Lebanon's Allison Small, Greater Latrobe's Rachel Harter, and Kiski Area's Kierra Shreffler are among the other top returners worth watching for this season in the WPIAL.
