PCL Championships: Race Videos & Interviews

Gary Martin and Isabella Greco claimed individual Philadelphia Catholic League titles, while LaSalle College boys and Msgr. Bonner & Abp. Prendie girls took home team titles on Saturday at Belmont Plateau.

Martin, an Archbishop Wood senior, went 15:46 to claim the win in the boys' varsity race. Martin pulled away early and came away with his first PCL XC title after the meet was not held in 2020. It was a big day for the LaSalle boys, who scored 28 points to run away win the team title. Zach Brill led the way for the Explorers, taking second with a very strong race in 16:11. LaSalle took spots five through nine after their No. 1 to secure the win, despite the absence of usual top runner Drew Brill, who is expected to return for the rest of the postseason. Saint Joseph's Prep was second and Father Judge was third in the team standings.

For Lansdale Catholic's Greco it was a big runaway victory. Greco went 20:39 to win by 1:43 over second place to capture the PCL title. Cardinal O'Hara's Sarah Lorenz was second and Archbishop Wood's Alexis Smith was third. The Bonner-Prendie girls put three in the top six behind Allison O'Brien, Ava Ezzie, and CeCe Perkins to take the win and return to the top of the PCL. Lansdale Catholic was second with 55 points.

It's a quick turnaround for PCL athletes, who will be in action at the PIAA District 12 Championships back at Belmont Plateau on Thursday. Check out meet coverage links above.
