USATF Youth Athletics Champs:

All Young Women and Young Men

SUNDAY:Trevon Rainford, Engineering & Science, won his second event of the meet, taking the 1500 in 4:00.75. Devin Summerville, Simon Gratz, was 6th in 4:07.76, with Friends\' Central\'s Robert Ricketts 8tjh in 4:09.02. Laurel Highlands\' Breehana Jacobs came within .04 of winning a US title, running 11.67 to finish 3rd in the 100. And Carrington Queen, Chichester, took 2nd in the 110 Hurdles in 14.16. And in the final race of the meet, the Phatback Athletics foursome of Kyle Tucker, Carrington Queen, Chad Sargeant, and Zach Malet took 3rd in the 4x400, running 3:18.50.

SATURDAY: Engineering & Science\'s Trevon Rainford won the 5000 meter run in a very quick 15:05.44. Robert Ricketts, Friends\' Centeral, was 4th in 16:05.48, with Jared Arnolc 5th in 16:11.73. Zach Malet, Friends\' Central, took 5th in the 800 meter Finals, going 1:55.52, with Jamar Jones, Engineering & Science, 7th in 1:56.55. In the Finals of the 200 meter dash, Simon Gratz\'s Kenneth Talley was 7th in 22.30. Carrington Queen, Chichester, had the 2nd best prelim time in the 110 Hurdles in 14.29. In the 4x100 prelims, Phatback Athletics just missed moving on to the Finals, running 42.94.

FRIDAY: Laurel Highlands\' Breehana Jacobs posted the fastest qualifier in the 100 meter dash prelims, gong 11.61. In the 1500 prelims, Trevon Rainford, Engineering & Science, posted the best qualifier, going 4:05.05. Friends\' Central grad Robert Ricketts, Simon Gratz\'sDevin Summerville, and Terence Lee, all advanced to Sunday\'s Finals.

THURSDAY:In the prelims of the YW 200 meter dash, Breehana Jacobs, Laurel Highlands, posted the 2nd fastest qualifier at 24.03. In the prelims of the YM 200, Simon Gratz grad Kenneth Talley ran 21.82, the 7th best of the qualifiers. In the 800 prelims, Jamar Jones, Engineering & Science, went 1:54.24 for the top qualifiers, while Zach Malet, Friends\' Central, also advanced to Saturday\'s Finals. Kenneth Talley, Simon Gratz, advanced to the Finals of the 200 meter dash with a 21.82. In the prelims of the 4x400, Phatback Athletics moved on to the Sunday Finals with a 3:18.27.

WEDNESDAY: In the 4x800 Finals, Phatback Athletics finished 3rd in 7:53.59.

AAU Region 2 Champs:

FRIDAY-SATURDAY: Continuing her dominance in most Intermediate Girls\' events, Ryann Krais set a PR in the finals of the 400, going 54.83; taking the 100 Hurdles in 14.21 (14.09 prelim), cruising through the 400 Hurdles in 1:04.16, and winning the Long Jump by just .25 in 17-05. Kristin Arnold, competing for Coatesville TC, was 2nd with a leap of 17-04.75. Three other PA girls joined Krais under 59 seconds in that 400, with Ije Iheoma, Council Rock South 2nd in 55.84, Devan Coon, Schuyllkill Valley, 3rd in 57.20, and Khaaleedah Smith, Penn Charter, 4th in 58.61. Iheoma did win a fast 800, going 2:12.65 to edge Chester\'s Shaniel Chambers by just .05. Taylor Bumpas, Gwynedd-Mercy, ran 2:19.16 for 3rd. Coon also took 2nd in the 200 in 24.67. Shatievah Lewis, Bartram HS, won the 3000 in 11:01.96 and was 2nd in the 1500 in 4:59.36. Academy Park\'s Jermaine Lowery won the 100 Hurdles in 14.94 (14.83 Prelims), and the 400 Hurdles in 55.64. Also winning two was LaSalle\'s Philip Wood, going 4:11.12 in the 1500 and 9:13.20 for 3000. In Intermediate relays, Mt. Airy captured the girls\' 4x400 in 4:00.59, while the boys went 3:24.90 for their win. In Young Women/Young Men competition, Reggie Carter, Bensalem, went 21.26 and 48.87 to win the 200/400 double. Coatesville\'s Kaleena Gray was a double champ, winning the Discus in a PR 131-04, and taking the Shot Put with a throw of 40-07.50. Coatesville\'s Tierra Flowers won the 100 in 12.12. Amber Gaffey, Susquehanna Community, cleared 10-06 to win the Pole Vault. Brian Moore, LaSalle College HS, threw 186 to win the Javelin. Hatboro-Horsham\'s Joseph Berry cleared 13-09 in the Pole Vault. The Coatesville Striders won the 4x100 in 47.54.

WEDNESDAY-THURSDAY: A week after setting the US Sophomore class record in the Heptathlon at the USATF Juniors Championships, Ryann Krais had to compete in another Hep to qualify for the AAU Junior Olympic Championships. She started Day One with a 15.02 100 Hurdles, 5-05.75 High Jump, 30-07.75 Shot Put and a 25.21 20, to finish the day with with 3002 points. On Day Two, she won the Long Jump with a leap of 17-10, set a PR in her 2nd-ever competition in the Javelin, throwing 101-09, and then setting a PR in the 800, going 2:20.85 after splitting 1:05.6 at the 400 meter mark. Her final total was 4987. In the Young Men\'s Decathlon, Alex Holcombe, Germantown Academy, scored 6164 for the win.
