Up to 8 inches of snow did not stop the DVGTCA from having their 3rd indoor meet of the season. Due to the school closings across the area, attendance was very limited. But despite the small numbers, there were still some good performances. Strath Haven now own PA#1 marks in both distance relays. The relay team of Bri Irons (2:27 800), Kat Mazur (1:01 400), Kristen Miller (3:45 1200), and Allie Wilson (5:16 1600) ran a US#2 12:32.71 to win the distance medley relay. Cardinal O’Hara ran 12:52.91 to finish 2nd with Amy Kelly running a 3:43 split on the 1200). Markeeta Thomas (8.46 55 meter hurdles) and Jameel Muhammad (7.45 55 meter dash) took home the sprint medals for Paul Robeson. Neumann Goretti finished 2nd in the 4x400 meter relay with an improved PA#2 time of 4:06.19. |

The annual Hispanic Games took place on Saturday at the New York Armory. The facility was full despite several teams staying put due to winter storm Hercules. While subzero temperatures surrounded the outside of the building, the inside was full of hot performances, and PA teams and athletes got in on the party.
The first big highlight of the 13 hour meet was the performance of Cheltenham’s boy sprinters. They entered two 4x200 meter relays. The A team ran the fastest time in prelims (1:29.42) and won the finals in a US#2 time of 1:29.07! Their B squad ran 1:32.42, which was the fourth fastest time in qualifying and they also finished 4th in the finals in 1:32.98, ahead of US#6 Delaware Valley Charter, who finished 5th in 1:33.47 (1:30.71 prelims). PA teams also did well in the 4x400 meter relay, as Pennsbury reclaimed their PA#1 spot with a US#6 time of 3:25.53. Penncrest finished close by in 6th place with a PA#3 3:28.32. Pennsbury were led by new PA#1 400 meter runner Charles Snorweah, who finished 4th in the invitational 400 meter dash in a US#5 48.85. John Lewis of Cheltenham finished 6th in the same event in a US#8 49.16. Cheltenham’s Saahir Bethea finished 2nd in the long jump with a mark of 22-3.50. For the girls, Hanna Brosky of Emmaus earned two top six finishes during the meet. The senior won her heat in the invitational 400 meter dash and finished 4th overall with a state leading 57.67. Later, she finished 6th in the 800 meter run with a PA#5 2:20.27. Like their male counterparts, Cheltenham’s girl sprinters had a good day of their own. Ciara Leonard won the 55 meter hurdles with a US#2 time of 8.10. Her teammate Chanel Brissett ran 7.14 to win the 55 meter hurdles to complete the infield sprint sweep. Katelynn Jackson finished 6th in the 200 meter dash with a state leading 25.32. Elizabeth Morris of Central Bucks East reclaimed the state’s top spot in the 3000 meter run with a 7th place finish in 10:27.38.
