12/16 WKND: Indoor Week #3 - Krais wins three, anchors 4th|Speare-Dennin sub 9 3Ks|Schaffer 12 ft PV

12/16 INDOOR WEEK #3 SUMMARY:

You could consider the 12/15 HILL SCHOOL INVITATIONAL Ryann Krais' early December warm-ups. The Methacton junior won three individual events and anchored the winning 4x400. Glen Mills' Semaj Spencer took two, the high and long jumps. And Chestnut Hill Academy's Wayne Crawford was out there nicely in the shot put, going nearly 57 feet. On Saturday at Haverford College in the TFCAGP D2 INDOOR MEET #3, Strath Haven's Rob Speare posted a very quick 8:52.6 3000, which amazingly, is the 2nd best 3K over the first three weeks of the season. In the 800, Khaliff Featherstone, Simon Gratz; Elliott Rhodes, Germantown Academy; and Jamar Jones, Engineering & Science, all broke two minutes, but none were under 1:59. Can you say tight? At the TFCAGP D1 INDOOR MEET #3, Boyertown's Mark Dennin became the 3rd guys under 9 in this young season. Central Bucks South won the DMR. Jay Pittenger stayed in the clouds in the High Jump. At the DICKINSON COLLEGE HS INVITE #1, the girls 55 hurdles were quick with Hughesville's Rachel Houseknecht edging Reading's Jazmin Hunt. Matt Davis of Harrisburg was a winner in the Long Jump and 200, while teammate Alysha Cook pulled off the 55-200 sprint double. In the first big meet at the New York Armory at the 53rd BISHOP LOUGHLIN GAMES, Easton's Abby Schaffer won the Pole Vault, clearing 12'. Chester's Shaniel Chambers took 2nd in the 600 meters. At the FRANKLIN & MARSHALL HS INVITATIONAL #1, Kaleena Gray of Coatesville got off to a great start, taking the Shot Put with a throw over 43'. Hempfield junior Sydney Clark toured 3000 meters in under 11 minutes. And two McCaskey sprinters took the 55 and 55 Hurdles. On Monday 12/18 in the PCL GIRL'S INDOOR MEET #1, frosh Amanda Bascelli of Archbishop Carroll picked up where she left off after a stellar cross country debut, winning the 3000, with Archbishop Prendergast's Erica Matticola about a second back. The next night at the PCL BOY'S INDOOR MEET #1, Leemue Koimene of Father Judge won the high jump and Bonner's Sean Wilkes took the shot put. S. Mallon of Archbishop Ryan doubled in the winning the 800 and mile, while the O'Hara relays captured the 4x200 and 4x400.

12/13 Hill School Invitational

Consider this her early December warm-ups. Ryann Krais of Methacton won three individual events and anchored the winning 4x400 to a 4:13.40. Her 200 was a hand-timed 25.4. And she ran 8.19 to easily win the 55 Hurdles and long-jump 18-06.75. Glen Mills' Semaj Spencer took two, high jumping 6-04 and long-jumping 21-04.50 And Chestnut Hill Academy's Wayne Crawford was out there nicely in the shot put, going 56-09.25.


12/15 Bloomsburg University HS Invitational #1

12/16 Franklin & Marshall HS Invitational #1, Lancaster

Kaleena Gray of Coatesville got off to a great start, taking the Shot Put with a throw of 43-06.25. Hempfield junior Sydney Clark toured 3000 meters in 10:51.96. McCaskey sprinters Dixon and B. Ascencio won the 55 and 55 Hurdles in 6.64 and 8.15, respectively.


12/16 Dickinson College HS Invite #1, Carlisle

It's early, but the hurdles are looking deep this season. Hughesville made the trip to Carlisle worthwhile, and ran away with two medals in the barrier sprint as Rachel Houseknecht was 1st in 8.3 and teammate Rebeckah Newhart 5th in 8.7. Reading's Jazmin Hunt had run 8.3 in the prelims, but had to settle for 2nd with her 8.4. Newhart also took 2nd in the High Jump, with Hunt in 3rd. Both cleared 5-02. Chambersburg's Everett Chapman won the boys' 55H in 7.7. Harrisburg's Matt Davis was a double winner, taking the Long Jump with a leap of 21-08.75 and running 23.5 to capture the 200. His teammate, Alysha Cook, won the two sprints, going 7.3 in the 55 Dash and 26.5 for 200m.


12/16 TFCAGP D1 Indoor Meet #3 @ Haverford College

If you're paying attention to the 3000, you have to be looking forward to the end of the season. After Jason Weller blitzed to a solo 8:39.8 last weekend, teammate Mark Dennin went 8:56.2 to become the 3rd guy under 9 for the season (see the D2 summary below). Central Bucks South posted a 10:54.0 DMR. Cheltenham's Brandon Bing went 22.7 in the 200. And Jay Pittenger of William Tennent, cleared 6-08 in the High Jump.


12/16 TFCAGP D2 Indoor Meet #3 @ Haverford College

RESULTS POSTED

Strath Haven's Rob Speare set a meet record of 8:52.6 in the 3000, bettering the 2001 mark set by Mark Mullelly of Upper Moreland. That is the 2nd fastest 3K of this young season. In the Mile, Wissahickon's Nick Crits ran 4:28.9. And three guys were under 2 for 800. Simon Gratz junior Khaliff Featherstone won the lean over Germantown Academy's Elliot Rhodes and Jamar Jones of Engineering & Science, the three hand-timed in 1:59.4, 1:59.5 and 1:59.8.


12/16-17 53rd Bishop Loughlin Games @ NY Armory

Easton junior Abby Schaffer won the Pole Vault, clearing 12-0. Chester's Shaniel Chambers was 2nd over 600 meters, clocking 1:33.56. Conestoga's Carly Niness took 7th in 1:37.95. Her teammate, Whitney Winters, was 4th in the 55 Dash, going 7.31. In the Shot Put, Gabriella Rinehart of Norristown threw 38-10.75 for 5th. Emily Moles of Conestoga was 3rd in the High Jump, clearing 5-2. And Chester took 6th in the 4x200 with their 1:48.27.


12/18 PCL Girls Indoor Meet #1 @ Haverford College

RESULTS POSTED

Frosh Amanda Bascelli of Archbishop Carroll picked up where she left off after a stellar cross country debut, winning the 3000 in 10:44.2. About a second back was Archbishop Prendergast's Erica Matticola in 10:45.3. Katie Kelly, Archbishop Wood, covered 16-00.75 to take the long jump, and Margaret Merlie, Archbishop Carroll, put the shot 35-02.


12/19 PCL Boys Indoor Meet #1 @ Haverford College

RESULTS POSTED

Leemue Koimene of Father Judge won the high jump, clearing 6-03.50. Bonner's Sean Wilkes took the shot put with a toss of 52-09. S. Mallon of Archbishop Ryan doubled, going 2:03.1 to take the 800 and 4:34.2 to win the mile. And the O'Hara relays captured two, running 1:38.9 in the 4x200 and 3:40.7 in the 4x400.
