Carlisle Quotes from Miller and Fuller

Brian Fuller and Craig Miller renewed their deja vu racing, with Fuller getting first this time. It\'s likely to continue at Districts and States. Could it happen at Foot Lockers too>

Brad Miller, Sophomore, Manheim Township

PTXC:How were the conditions out there today?
Miller:It was windy at the beginning and then again running by the highway (PA Turnpike) coming down that hill.

PTXC:You had a small lead rounding the last corner before the finish. How did it unfold?
Miller:I knew when he passed me coming in the finish I had to start going behind him again. But I thought I\'d have a faster kick. Coming down the hill I thought I had it, but as soon as I saw him next to me and passing me, I knew I had a race. He just had a little too much today. Brian\'s move wasn\'t any different than at Gettysburg, except that he edged me out this time.

PTXC:Did the race go as planned?
Miller: I went out too fast. I think my mile was a 5:01. I had wanted to run a steady pace. (Derek) Jennings (Solanco) ran really well. I beat him by a minute last Wednesday. .

PTXC:Your brother (twin Brad, who is coming back from a foot fracture) raced toward the front early, but still finished well.
Miller:It was nice to have him back in the race. He ran in training shoes today instead of spikes to be careful with his foot. He should be back for States. .

PTXC:What do you think of the Carlisle course?
Miller:I like it. Except there may be a few too many sharp turns. But besides that, it\'s a good course. It has some nice hills in it.

Brian Fuller, Senior, Cumberland Valley

PTXC:How was this race different than your others with Craig Miller?
Fuller: This time, Derek Jennings from Solanco came up with us around the two mile when, for some reason, the pace slowed down with Miller and I, and he took the lead for awhile. Then I took the lead for about 400 meters. But Craig made a surge coming up toward the finish line, and coming around the corner I just didn\'t want to lose again. I just gave it everything. We were pretty even coming down the last hill and then on the flatter part is where I started to catch him.

PTXC:This is getting to be a habit?
Fuller:Yeah, but I think it\'s 4 to 2 right now. In my favor. He beat me at Gettysburg last year and this year, then I beat him every other time in cross country. They were all really close. At Districts, I beat him by five seconds, and then here at Carlisle last year by about five seconds, but other than that, it\'s been within a second.

PTXC:Is this developing into a rivalry?
Fuller:There\'s always been a rivalry. It\'s not really a friendly one either. We don\'t really talk or anything. But it\'s all in good competition.

PTXC:The boys have a lot of talent at the front this year. How\'s it look for States?
Fuller:It\'s going to be a good race this year. It\'s really strong. Last year, AA was strong. This year AAA and AA are strong.

PTXC:What\'s the rest of your schedule?
Fuller:Next weekend it\'s William & Mary, then Mid-Penns, Districts and States with a few duel meets, too.

PTXC:Where\'s your training at this point?
Fuller:We started to back down the mileage starting last week. I don\'t really know the numbers. We\'re just doing workouts. But we haven\'t started any speed yet.
