After finishing 1-2 in the NXN Northeast Regional Championships last November, the Pennsbury and Unionville girls teams have been recoginzed as strong contenders entering 2014.
Pennsbury has been ranked as the preseason #1 team in the Northeast region entering the new season!The 2013 state and NXN Northeast runners up bring back six of their top seven, led by Olivia Sargent, Hannah Molloy, and Maddie Sauer. Meanwhile. the state and NXN Regional champions Unionville are ranked #3 on that same list. Despite graduating 2012 state champion Courtney Smith, they also bring back six of their top seven, led by Olivia Young, Kacie Breeding, and Gretchen Mills. Unionville will look to hold on to the title that Pennsbury held for three consevctive seasons, while Pennsbury will look to make it 4 out of 5 titles and 6 stright top two finishes.
Also making the list at #9 is 5th place state meet finishers Central Bucks East, Sophomore Tate Dawson returns with the team's best performance in 2013, while Lizzie Morris enters her senior season with a state 3200 meter medal. Great Valley also made the list at #16 and they will be led by the stars that made up their special 4x800 meter relay team. Elise Claffey, Anna Willig, and Sarah Hipwell will be back to show their stuff on the cross country course. North Penn rounds out the list for PA at #22 with their top two runners from 2013, Ali Valenti and Phoebe Clowser leading the way.
