30th Pennsylvania Track Classic
Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School Plymouth-Whitemarsh, PA
Mar 28, 2015
MileSplit On-Site Coverage
The wind was brutal! The first full weekend of the outdoor season felt more like the very cold days in February that everyone trained through at the end of the indoor season.
To the athletes' credit, however, the performances at the PA Classic very solid despite the conditions, and the 300 meter hurdles features two of the best marks of the day.
John Lewis of Cheltenham was in a tough race against teammate Cordell Richardson and Kornelius Klah of Pennsbury in the 300 meter hurdles. The three were neck and neck entering the final straightaway. That's where Lewis took over and came away with the win in a state leading 39.43. Meanwhile, Brooklynn Broadwater of Springside Chestnut Hill was dominant from the start in her 300 meter hurdle race, cruising to a US top 30 performance of 43.87! Broadwater also added a 400 meter win in 58.73, good for PA#2 honors.
Other highlights on the day included a double win for Kieran Moore of Upper Dublin in the shot put (50-2.75) and the discus (127-5). Wilson (3) girls were impressive in the 4x8, running a state leading 9:42.82. Nicolette Serratore of Methacton was also a double winner, winning the javelin (PA#2 125-1) and the triple jump (36-2.75).
