Who's ready for some mid-week track and field? Wednesday brings us the first Hill School hosted meet of the year from Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. There should be some exciting performances to look forward to, specifically from the crop of Unionville distance runners.
In the girls mile, we'll get a matchup between Unionville teammates Anna Juul and Kacie Breeding. Juul is coming off a 45th place finish at Nike Cross Nationals. Breeding just missed qualifying for NXN, but she's surely hungry to put down a good performance. It looks like they will go for some good early season performances using that XC fitness.
For the boys, Kent Hall will be the top seed in the mile. Hall is coming off a remarkable XC campaign that saw him get better with every race. It was his first cross country season, but he did run track last spring. He brings in a 4:28 mile PR, but is seeded at 4:24. Like Juul and Breeding, he'll try to capitalize off his XC strength to put a good time down before the end of the calendar year. hall will be matched up with Easton's Kevin Lapshansky, who could provide a good race, depending on his fitness level.
The Springtide Chestnut Hill girls will be there as well. Reigning 400 meter state champ Brooklynn Broadwater is scheduled to run in the 800 meters. She's matched up with teammate and current PA #1 Alexandria Kitchell (who is also running the 400) in that race.
In the field events, we'll get our first look at Preseason PA#1 Greer Gumbrecht of Easton. She'll look to put down a good clearance early on here.
Surely there will be more to look at, including the possibility for some solid relays. Check back here Wednesay night for results.
