Dowingntown West out fast early: WATCH their PA#1 4x200 at Bishop Loughlin

There might not be a better team in Pennsylvania than Downingtown West. And it really doesn't seem that close, at least right now. We saw what the distance team at West could do in cross country. Now we're seeing what the rest of the Whippets can do on the track.

Currently, West boasts six PA#1s. Josh McLemore has been unstoppable with top state times in the 200 meters and 300 meters (also US#1), while James Holt (PA#1 21-6.75 long jump) and Darian Alston (PA#1 46-10 triple jump) are holding down the jumps. Henry Sappey holds the top time in the 3K with a season opening sub-9 race, using that XC strength, and we haven't even seen what the Hoey brothers (second and third in the state in cross country) yet.

On Saturday, West's 4x200 took to the new Ocean Breeze Track and Field facility and came away with an impressive early season clocking of 1:31.99. It was good enough for second in their heat and third overall at the Bishop Loughlin Games. Watch the video of the race, above and pay attention to McLemore's dazzling anchor leg on the outside.
