Girls' 60-meter dash

A senior, a junior, and some freshmen lead the way
The shortest sprint is going to be a mix of young and old;
the green and the experienced. It also might be one of the most exciting. The
two favorites are the more experienced ones: Dasia Pressley of Pennsbury and
Chanel Brissett of Cheltenham. They've raced three times this season in the 60
or 55 dash, and it's been extremely close each time. Brissett won by .01 the
first time around. Reverse that result in their next meeting. Brissett ran a
7.02 in the 55 meters at Millrose before a disqualification wiped that away,
leaving Pressley's 7.08 as the top PA time on Saturday. But the past is the
past, and it only matters what happens on Sunday. Who will have the better
start? The better lean?
Brissett is the reigning champ in the event, running a 7.47 to take the title last year, but she'll have the added duty of the 60-meter hurdles. Will she be able to hold up through preliminaries, semis, and finals?

Then there are the freshmen. There are three of them: Kouri Peace of Pennridge, Thelma Davies of Girard College, and Bria Barnes of Cheltenham. Peace has been the best of the bunch this season, running a 7.56 60 at the DVGTCA Meet of Champions to finish right behind Brissett and Pressley. However, Davies beat Peace at the PTFCA Carnival. Norristown's Jayana Webb is another one you can't count out either. The sophomore has put together yet another solid season. Williamsport's Sarah Hill has come around this season and could be a darkhorse threat.
