Friday afternoon will bring the second annual New Balance Invitational hosted by Cardinal O'Hara.

For the girls, we'll get our first look outdoors at one of the shot put favorites, Janese Lynch of Neumann Goretti. Lynch will be favored in what will be her first appearance of her junior season in the spring season.

In the triple jump, Spring Ford's Aleigha Johnson will look to build on a great first jump of the season at Rustin where she put up a PA#2 in the event.

There should be some good sprint battles. In the 100, Chichester's Nierra Berry will race Bonner-Prendie's Jewel Ford. Then Ford will come back in the 200 against Neumann Goretti's Eliza Brooks.

Look for Berry back in the 300m hurdles against Bonner-Prendie's Alaina Johnson.

For the boys, it should be an exciting distance meet. The mile will be a nice early season showdown between Bonner-Prendie's Sean Sullivan and Springfield's Liam Galligan. Both took home medals in the event indoors and both will look to carry that momentum into outdoors.

Then there's the 5000 meters, which will feature the top dogs from O'Hara, Ryan James and Rob Morro.

Neumann Goretti's Kamil Jihad will look to add his name to a growing list of half milers that have already dipped under two minutes in the 800 this season.

West Catholic's Dajone Averett is entered in a few events. Look out for him in the 100-meter dash and the 110 meter hurdles.

In the throws, look out for Spring Ford's Tim Rudderow, who is the top seed in both the discus and shot put.

Bonner-Prendie's Ethan Cooke will be one to watch in the triple jump. He got his season best of 42-7 at this meet last year.
