PA Salute to Seniors - Haziz Nelson, Paul Robeson


Today we spotlight Haziz Nelson of Paul Robeson, who just finished up his final high school track season. What was your most memorable race/competition?
My most memorable race/competition was the 2015 state championship AA 4x800 prelim.

Where did you face your biggest competition?
I faced my biggest competition during cross country, which was the 2015 public league championship.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most?
Out of all my high school accomplishments, going all public during cross country stands out the most because I always hated cross country.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your athletic career in high school?
If I could do it all over again, I would change the way I trained being that I ran all my fast times outside of high school track.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
The most difficult obstacle I had to overcome was dealing with an hamstring strain my senior year.

What will you miss the most? 
I will miss my team mates the most, they always encouraged me and motivated me.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
My advice for younger athletes would be never stop chasing a dream! No matter how big or how long it takes, never give up on a dream!

How have your coaches influenced your performances and your life goals overall?
My coaches has influenced my performances and life goals by being there for me on and off of the track, by giving me guidance, and paving ways for me.

What are your college plans?
My college plans are to earn a bachelors degree from California University of PA, studying athletic training.
