While seniors won four of the six state championships on Saturday (and both PAISAA title a week before), in Girls' AA, the winner was just a freshman.
Taryn Parks of Greencastle-Antrim continued her impressive first high school season on Saturday with a win at the PIAA State Championships. Parks took the race out hard, but the field reeled her back in. Northern's Marlee Starliper made a strong move to try and beat Parks in the final mile.
But Parks showed the poise of a seasoned upperclassman late in the race, trusting in her ability to close hard. And she did. Parks clocked a time of 18:56 for the win.
