WATCH: Villa Maria pulls of the 3-peat in AA Girls

Winning three straight championships is no easy task for any team.

But Villa Maria accomplished that feat over the past weekend at the PIAA State Championships. The team knew it would be the most diffiuclt of the three championships if they wanted to pull it off heading into the race. After losing top girl from last year Claire Brown to graduation and Hannah Ricci to transfer, VM found some necessary pieces to retool and once again become competitive.

In Saturday's race, Villa Maria's patience paid off. They were in third place at the mile mark, 48 points off Quaker Valley. Then at the two mile, Danville Area, who was fourth at the mile, overtook Villa Maria, which moved up to second. The two teams were separated by just two points though.

In the final 1.1, Villa Maria made a big move and won the state title by 26 points over second place Quaker Valley. Carlee Constable led the way with a tenth place finish, while Grace Brown was 16th. Lexi Siefert also got into the medals with a 25th place finish.
