Goldstein Leads 5 Under 5!: Top 400 Girls' Mile Run Returnees

The girls' mile was stacked in Pennsylvania last season, much like the 800. In a star-studded fast section of the mile at indoor states, Friends' Central's Gabrielle Wilkinson (who won the 800 a year prior) used her half mile speed to defeat Germantown Academy's Abbe Goldstein in a duel of the two girls who were the top milers all season.

Those two return for an encore. The state runner-up Goldstein has the top returning time with a 4:52 from the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix. It should be a great race between Wilkinson, who has great turnover, and Goldstein, a long distance grinder. A lot depends on what events they opt to contest at the state meet, but it should be interesting regardless. Of course, there are plenty of others we can't forget about who can definitely contend along the way.
