James M. Coughlin's Madisyn Hawkins became the first girl in PA to go over 12 feet this season. The senior took first place at the Tim Lawrence Invitational at the Armory in New York City.
Hawkins, a contender for a high finish in the pole vault at indoor states, won last week at the Maroon & Gold Invitational in Kutztown. On Friday, she did herself better by a half a foot. Last year at states, she took eighth in the state. She has cleared 12-0 outdoors on numerous occasions, but this her first time over the threshold indoors.
