They did it.

The Carlisle boys broke the national record in the boys' distance medley relay at New Balance Nationals Indoor at The Armory in New York. The team of Sam Affolder, Jared Griffie, Isaac Kole, and Noah Affolder ran a time of 9:56.18 to break the event's 17-year-old national record, which was 9:59.94 by Gloucester (MA).

Sam Affolder ran the leadoff 1200 meter leg, taking the lead after a few laps. He widened that gap and handed off to Griffie after an FAT split of 3:02.11. Griffie maintained that lead with a 400 meter split of 51.71. Kole took the stick and ran 1:57.41 on the 800 leg. Western Cary (NC) briefly took the lead from Kole, but Kole re-passed him and gave it to Noah Affolder for the 1600 meter anchor leg.

Noah Affolder, currently US#2, split 4:04.95 on the anchor to give Carlisle the win by over 16 seconds over second place Brentwood. That also breaks Cardinal O'Hara's 2014 Pennsylvania state record of 10:00.75.
