For a second straight season, Cheltenham's Chanel Brissett will be opening up her outdoor season in sunny Florida. The senior and USC signee is entered in the 100 meter hurdles, her main event at this weekend's Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Flordia.
Last season, the state record holder opened up season going a wind-aided 13.09 in the prelims and then finishing it off with a 13.19 in the finals to take the win. Watch that race above! She's back this season, and after an indoor season that saw her better her own 60 meter hurdle state record (despite missing almost half the season because of injury), Brissett could be better than ever.
Brissett ran 12.95 at the U.S. Olympic Trials last summer to tie Candy Young's 1979 state record. Can Brissett start off her outdoor campaign with a state record? We'll see.
