D10-AAA Boys - Individuals Breakdown

It will be an interesting season for the AAA boys in District 10. A great team battle is expected between Cathedral Prep and McDowell for the lone state qualifying spot. But after that, the race will be on for those five individual slots.

The individual title will likely be a three person race between DuBois Area's Peter Foradora and the McDowell duo of Jack Holmberg and Ryan Zimmerman. Foradora was second to Prep's Ryan Garich last season, but now he's the top returner. Holmberg and Zimmerman won't go down without a fight.

Holmberg should be a factor, and Zimmerman was an DNF at the district meet, but has some good credentials. Zimmerman was the D10 champ in 2015, going sub-17 at Buhl Park. Look for Zimmerman to try to reclaim his title for his senior season, all while collecting valuable team points. Noah Helsley is another McDowell runner to watch. He clocked a 17:55 early last season at Sharpsville.

Prep meanwhile will look to Race Nicolia and Nick Wetzel to lead the way for them this season. The pair was sixth and seventh, respectively, last season and both are entering their senior seasons. The team race will be close, so those individual places will be crucial.
