WATCH: Dominique Shultz Pull Away For The Win At The Cherokee Challenge


Dominque Shultz bided her time on Saturday and it paid off.

The Conestoga senior didn't take the lead straight from the gun in the girls' Senior Race at the Cherokee Challenge across state lines in Marlton, New Jersey. Instead, she lingered near the front of the chase pack before making a move on Ocean City's Alexa Weber.

Shultz didn't look back after that, running away with the win for a second straight season over the 3,200 meter course. Her winning time was 11:26.74. That's faster than last season by nearly 12 seconds---a sign the senior is ahead of schedule from a year ago. 

After the race, Shultz also told NJ MileSplit's Robert Kellert that she's verbally committed to West Point. The performance also helped move Shultz up to PA#16 in the latest Flo50 individual state rankings. Check out her full interview below:
