3/27-Records come from Drexel Hill, Mechanicsburg, Philly and Florida at PA Track Classic @ PW HS

There were meet records from all over PA - Drexel Hill, Mechanicsburg, Philly - plus a big one from a Florida transfer, at the 20th PA Track Classic at Plymouth-Whitemarsh.

Upper Darby senior Jannea Bridgeford is gaining confidence (along with records and wins) as she cruises through her senior season. Bridgeford was named the track athlete of the meet with two win, a meet record 24.34 in the 200 and an 11.87 in the 100. Chanel Williams of host Plymouth-Whitemarsh, won two events, the 300 Hurdles in 44.02 and the 400 in 58.60. Greenwood's Jessica Kratzer won the Shot Put, throwing 36, and took 2nd in the Discus (118-02) and 3rd in the Javelin (104-05).

Central Bucks West's Julie Hischman set a PR by 9' in the Javelin, throwing 131-5 to be named the Field Athlete of the Meet.

Radnor senior Julie Opet withstood a spirted comeback attempt from Allentown Central Catholic's Frances Koons to lead her team to a 9:32.62 4x800. Radnor's splits were Shannon Holm, 2.25.5, Liz Milewski, 2.23.8, Caroline Pearsall, 2.23.1, and Opet, 2.20.2. But Koons ran a strong 1600 to lead her DMR squad to a time of 12:30.12.

Shawn Smith came into the Philly area and ran away with two wins and a second.

Shawn Smith came into the Philly area and ran away with two wins and a second. His 10.99 and 22.30 were good enough for the 100 and 200 win, and he cleared 20-10 for 2nd in the Long Jump. Mike Wray took the 110 Hurdles in 14.34, but was caught in the home sprint by sophomore Andre Burton of William Tennent, who went 38.14 for a new meet record. Wray was .04 back.

Burton said he started the hurdles in 2003, "but had no technique. Now that I have some technique, it's starting to be fun." Central's Mike Syrnick pulled of a tough double, taking the 800 in 1:57.36 and the1600 in 4:22.97. Smith and Syrnick were named co-track athletes of the meet. Cumberland Valley set a meet record in the DMR without Brian Fuller. Their 10:22.26 was six seconds up on North Penn. Anchor Jon Fulginiti went 4:22.5 to pull away over the final lap. The other CV splits were 3:12.9 for soph Curtis Bixler, 49.7 for soph David Stonfer, running his first 400, and 1:56.9 for senior David Little.

Florida transfer Mackenna McClure helped lead Council Rock South to a one-two finish in the Discus. His throw of 183-05 was a new meet record by 15'. Andrew Dubs was 2nd with a throw of 161, and took the Shot Put with his throw of 56-09.
